The hybrid powertrain combines a 2.4L four-cylinder engine with two electric motors that operate on three main drive modes: Parallel, Series, and EV. You can get a fuel efficiency of up to 64 mpg and a combined range of 420 miles when driving in Parallel mode, which is managed automatically. The Series mode of the new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV features regenerative charging, and the EV mode kicks in when the gas tank is empty to deliver up to 38 miles of battery-only range.
A continuously variable transmission and an electronic stability control system give the Outlander PHEV precise control over powertrain and all-wheel driver management; you can select driving modes that range from sand to snow and from sport to energy efficiency.
